Welcome to Celtic Permaculture, your friendly permaculture people.

“Live as though you’ll die tomorrow, but farm as though you’ll live forever.” ― John Marsden

In November 2015 we established Permakai in the rural south west of Auckland, New Zealand. Here we practiced and taught permaculture, grew seasonal vegetables and herbs, and mentoreding young growers.

In 2024 we moved to Ireland and we now focus on:

  • Permaculture courses and workshops.
  • A permaculture design and development service for those who want to design a resilient property but do not know where to start.
  • Advice on resilient living

Here is the link to Rory’s Diploma.

Our mission is still the same: To help people become more resilient We achieve this by providing the skills and tools needed to be self-sufficient and capable of handling whatever future challenges may arise.

Permaculture

Permaculture is the modern application of ancient wisdom. Our ancestors knew how to live in harmony with nature, they respected the seasons, and used different techniques to maintain and maximise the use of the sun’s energy, worked with rather than against the flow of water, and embraced the wind. Permaculture uses this knowledge to prepare us for the future and enhance our life without destroying the sources of abundance that surround us..

Bill Mollison, one of the founders of Permaculture, has said: “Permaculture is a philosophy of working with, rather than against nature; of protracted and thoughtful observation rather than protracted and thoughtless labor; and of looking at plants and animals in all their functions, rather than treating any area as a single product system.”
